Malayalam titles for Mollywood Movies

Now the new generation flicks have to disappear from the scene as the panel headed by eminent filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan has recommended Kerala government to make titles in the mother tongue mandatory for getting subsidies.

The committee, set up to study the problems faced by the industry and provide suggestions to revamp the Malayalam Film Industry. Director Shaji N. Karun, producer Suresh Kumar and former minister Pandalam Sudhakaran were the members of the panel. They observed that it has become a 'fashion' among many filmmakers to opt for English titles. The trend would affect the prestigious status of Malayalam, which had been awarded classical language status recently and create an aversion among youth about the mother tongue.

Majority of the about 80 movies released in the last six months including some blockbusters, had English titles, Pandalam Sudhakaran said. In some states, including Tamil Nadu, it was mandatory to have titles in their regional language to get subsidy. The committee also suggested to enhance the subsidies for quality moviesls.

Prithviraj's 'Tamaar Padaar' begins

The title Tamaar Padaar is usually associated with “action” in comic book lingo. Now, that is the title of Prithviraj’s latest film, directed by debutant Dileesh Nair.

Dileesh has earlier been associated with the scripts of films like Salt N Pepper, Da Thadiya and Idukki Gold.

The film will also have a rather curious role for Biju Menon and his character has been named ‘Jumper Thampi’. It was Biju’s comedy that helped films like Ordinary, Mallu Singh and Romans to become big hits.

Tamaar Padaar (Oru Thaadikkatha) is being produced by M Renjith under the banner Rejaputhra Visual Media.

The shooting of the film, which is said to be a laugh riot, has started now.

Amala Paul Chucked Out Of A Movie!

Wedding bells will soon ring for actress Amala Paul with Tamil director Vijay. The actress has not yet decided on the matter whether to continue acting or put an end to her career after marriage. But, it seems that the film industry has taken up a decision. Now, it has been reported that Amala Paul, who was signed in to play the female lead in the Telugu flick Vastha Nee Venuka, has been chucked out of the role. And the wierd reason is just because the actress is getting married!

Now, a source close to director Ramesh Varma told a popular daily, "The filmmakers came aware about the actor's wedding from the media and were surprised, to say the least. The film is a romantic entertainer and they felt that her changed marital status could prove counter-productive for the movie and have decided to go for a replacement. The filmmakers had planned to shoot at a foreign locale, but cancelled it upon learning about the news of the actor's wedding. The filmmakers are miffed with the actor for not revealing details of her wedding at the time of signing the movie. They have asked the actor to return the advance." What Amala has to say on this rude attitude from a South Film Industry? We have to wait and watch!
