Ben Affleck As Caped Crusader

It does not give much away but a new image of Ben Affleck as the Dark Knight has been released by DC Comics.

The dark picture is being displayed at Comic-Con where Gotham's Caped Crusader's 75th birthday is being celebrated.

Everything from comic books, to original costumes work by the likes of Christian Bale, Michael Keaton and Val Kilmer over the years, are all being exhibited in San Diego.

There are also masks, capes and a Dark Knight exhibition ahead of the release of Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice in 2016.

The film is being directed by Zack Snyder, who has unveiled a few other teasing photos over the last few months.

A Comic-Con appearance from Affleck remains a possibility at Saturday's Warner Bros panel.

DC Comics co-publisher Jim Lee, is a huge Batman fan and said the superhero has moved with the times: "If you look at the costume that was created in 1939, and you look at the costume that he has now and all the costumes in between, you see that all these different creators came on and left their mark with the character added new things to the mythology.

"So it's a living, breathing thing and fans of the character know that when they come of age, when they're ready to, they can step up to the plate and actually take the cowl and guide the destiny of the future of the character themselves.

"So in a way he's a character of everyone as much as he is a part of our company," explains Lee.

An image for the new Ant-Man film was also unveiled at Comic-Con this week, which is attended by over 150,000 people. The film will star Michael Douglas and Paul Rudd.
